Research Frontiers Incorporated (NASDAQ-NMS/REFR -- CS Sneak
10/98) announced that during Q1 1999, Material Sciences Corp. (NYSE/MSC),
an REFR licensee, completed its first large-scale preliminary run
of SPD film at its San Diego plant. The run was highly success-ful
even though there were a few expected flaws considered correctable.
REFR's 1998 Annual Report has pictures of MSC's production facility,
its team of specialists working on the SPD project, & the roll of
SPD film produced in its first large-scale test run. MSC will be
conducting other test runs prior to industry-standard durability
testing conducted prior to commercial sale.
As I reported in updates in 8/99 & 9/99: (1) REFR signed a license
agreement with Dainippon Ink & Chemicals, the world's largest manufacturer
of organic pigments grant-ing DIC the right to manufacture & sell
to authorized licensees of REFR, SPD emulsions used in making SPD
Film; & (2) REFR granted Hitachi Chemical a worldwide non-exclusive
license to manufacture & sell SPD emulsions. These two important
license agreements put two large chemical companies in place as
suppliers of the emulsions needed to manufac-ture SPD film.
The combination of these agreements, continued techno-logical progress,
& a strong financial condition make the current outlook for REFR
highly positive. Call Patricia Bryant, IR @ 888-SPD-REFR, fax 516-364-3798,
