DHB Armor Group develops & manufactures bullet & projectile resistant

hard composite armor for person-nel, ground vehicles, & aircraft.
Recent contracts include $1.3 million from the CA Highway Patrol,
$1.8 million from the state of CA, $5 million from the U.S. Marine
Corps, $4.7 million from the New York Police Department, & $1.15
million from the U.S. Air Force. Subsidiaries include Protective
Apparel Corporation of America, Point Blank Body Armor Inc., Point
Blank Internation-al, & Lanxide Armor Products. Brands include Point

DHB Sports Group makes & distributes protective athletic apparel
& equipment, such as elbow, breast, hip, groin, knee, shin, & ankle
supports, & wrist, elbow, groin, & knee braces. It also sells a
line of magnetic therapy & orthopedic products.
The company recently announced the implementation of its e-commerce
web site at www.dhbcapital.com, to be spearhead-ed by the MagneSystemsTM
brand of patented, bi-polar biomagnetic sports medicine products
which are clinically proven to enhance pain relief, improve circulation,
& accelerate & increase range of motion. The products are marketed
under a variety of recog-nized trade-marked brand names such as
NDL, GRID, DBS (Dr. BoneSavers), OPI, & MagneSystems.
DHB Electronics Group consists of Lanxide Electronics & DHB KK
(Japan). It makes & markets metal matrix composite materials (silicon
carbide/aluminum composites) used as packaging & structural thermal
management components for the electronics industry. The U.S. Navy
recently awarded Lanxide Electronics a $2.3 million contract to
develop new process technologies for the fabrication of components
to remove heat from electronic power devices. Management of the
heat generated by electronic power devices is a primary concern
of military & industrial enterprises.
Market
DHBT's driving force it its strong relationship with local & federal
law enforcement agencies based on the quality & viability of its
body armor products. As of 2/99, it had a $16,200,000 order backlog
for body armor products. The Sports Group's MagneSystem magnetic
pain therapy holds significant promise for arthritis & diabetic
sufferers as well as in the battle against cellulite. The Electronics

Net Income (Q1 ended 3/31/99): $31,405
Recommendation
I recommend DHBT for midterm & long-term apprecia-tion. It is
on the move. The profit in Q1 1999 of $31,405 compares to a loss
of $485,000 for Q1 1998. Through aggressive acquisitions, it strengthened
its position in three diverse business sectors.
While body armor leads the pack, the sports/health & electronic
components groups are gaining momentum. On 6/2/99, it received its
second order from the CA Highway Patrol ($938,000, in conjunction
with an exclusive two-year expandable $2 million body armor contract
with the State of CA awarded 3/8/99).
On 6/8/99, it announced it added over 500 outlets for its Sports
Group through an exclusive agree-ment with Associated Food Stores,
Inc.
Here are some other things I like:
- Strong management team
- Growing market for body armor products -- $5 million order for
U.S. Marines with a follow-up order pending
- Sports products promoted on Internet & in 5,500 retail drug
stores
- Working capital of $19,696,000 @ 3/31/99 up from $13,063,000
@ 3/31/98
