Mountain Province Mining Inc.

De Beers reported 12/14/99 that the 5034 had an average grade of 1.64 carats of diamonds per tonne (a "tonne" is a metric ton). De Beers put a value of US$63 per carat on those diamonds. They also indicated that the resource zone (down to 300 meters or about 985 feet from the surface) had 12.0 million tonnes.

If you multiply 12.0 million tonnes by 1.64 carats at $63/carat, you get a value of a bit over $1.23 billion -- an impressive number. And that's only one of the first four tested.

While the resource zone is normally limited to the 300 meter depth, tests have shown that even at 400 meters, you still encounter the rocks that contain diamonds, so the $1.23 billion is conservative.

De Beers has also done testing on three other pipes. The smallest, called the Tesla, has an estimated resource zone of 4 million tonnes. Another, the Hearne, has 6.86 million tonnes, & the third, the Tuzo, which was tested to the greater depth of 360 meters, has 15 million tonnes to that depth.

On 1/31/2000, Monopros reported its modeled revenue & grade estimates for the Hearne pipe. The average modeled grade is 1.71 carats per tonne, with an average modeled value per carat of $65. That represents a resource worth about $762 million.

On 3/10/2000, Monopros reported its modeled revenue & grade estimates for the Tuzo pipe. The average modeled grade is 1.22 carats per tonne, with an average modeled value per carat of $43 (lower than the other pipes because the size of the diamonds is smaller). The values are not as good as the 5034 or the Hearne, but the resource is still worth more than $750 million.

There are only about 7,000 kimberlite pipes on the planet. There are only 20 that have resulted in major mines, & about 40 are involved in quite small operations. The fact that the ones in this Kennady Lake area have such a high grade of diamond content is what jogged De Beers' interest.

The AK property is held 90% by MPVI & 10% by Camphor Ventures (Vancouver/CFV). MPVI received C$2,295,000 from De Beers' Monopros as its share of the sale of the 3% gross overriding royalty purchased by De Beers 9/13/99.

MPVI also has a 50/50 joint venture with Opus Minerals Inc. covering a total of 775,000 acres. Airborne geophysical surveying is planned for this spring on the initial 234,688 acres at the Northern end of Baffin Island in Northeastern Canada. A field program was completed last summer with 294 samples collected, processed, & examined for kimberlite indicator
